CONFLUENCE & WATER YARD

Opening June 7, 2017

1427 W 9th St, Kansas City, MO

Dashboard will present Confluence, a 60 foot x 25 foot  x  20 foot sculpture + water feature created by artist Ben Wolf (DET) in a vacant lot in the West Bottoms neighborhood.

Confluence supporting art and design team is led by Elvis Achelpohl (KC), and Nikita Gale (LA) in partnership with BNIM Architects (KC) and Adam Jones Construction (KC).

This site specific artwork mimics the nearby confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers using locally sourced and repurposed materials within the west bottoms. Project materials such as rail line, deconstructed shipping containers, and a deconstructed water tower reference various important historical and current identities of Kansas City and specifically the West Bottoms neighborhood.

Water Yard will become a public park, gateway, and pedestrian thoroughfare into the West Bottoms neighborhood following this installation. Spring 2017.
