CALL FOR ARTISTS: PUBLIC ART PERMANENT INSTALLATION
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP)

Dashboard and the City of Fairburn are seeking an artist and/or artist team to apply for the Illuminated Spaces: Broad Street Underpass Project. Illuminated Spaces is an innovative public art series showcasing the heart of downtown Fairburn as a vibrant destination for site-specific art and light installations by emerging local and national artists. The series goes beyond traditional art exhibitions by intentionally integrating the city’s infrastructure and vacant spaces into art activations that harmoniously blend environment, artistry, and light to create dialogue, inspire reflection, and ignite the imagination.

Dashboard and the City of Fairburn, with support from Fulton County, will conduct research and production of a site-specific permanent art installation at 26 SE Broad Street, Fairburn, Georgia 30213, to be completed by October 2024. Dashboard will work with local constituents and stakeholders to develop the concept, programming, and execution of the site-specific permanent installation at the above location. The installation planning will center on community engagement, feedback, accessibility, innovation, and design.

The Underpass at 26 SE Broad Street is a throughway for the City of Fairburn and runs between the Main Street city center and a residential/school district. The site is used for meetings, lunch, small events, and passage. The City of Fairburn seeks an artist and/or artist team that is willing to incorporate all necessary objectives outlined in the RFP into a permanent art installation that will bring vibrancy, safety, and imagination to the Underpass location.
